Gallic Club


Named after the champion racehorse, the Gallic club is a new initiative of the Bendigo Jockey Club. It was developed with the objective to bring together influential people in the business and sporting community of Bendigo to club functions.

The Club's ethos is about people coming together for the greater good to celebrate Bendigo's feature sporting events. The Club seeks to raise funds at each of the functions for a charity or cause that may be associated with sport.

As a racehorse, Gallic won 2 Bendigo Cups, an Adelaide Cup and a Sydney Cup. He was a true champion, one that displayed great courage and overcame adveristy to achieve success. We believe that his legacy deserves to be celebrated during major sporting events in Bendigo.
 
Gallic's owner and well-known racing identity, Mr. Lloyd Williams, agreed to be patron of the Club and kindly donated $10,000 to drive the club's various initiatives.

Annual events are currently focussed on the following themes:
  • A racing function to celebrate the spring carnival which precedes the Jayco Bendigo Cup in its new location in late October
  • An autumn event to celebrate the Bendigo International Cycling Madison event
  • A winter event where the Gallic Club hosts an annual raceday at the Bendigo racecourse
  • An early Spring function to celebrate the lead up to the Bendigo Football League Grand Final. It is hoped that representatives of the two grand-finalists and the Michelson Medallist are able to attend
