Lots of Gold on Golden Mile Raceday
A total of $770,000 in prize money and bonuses will be on offer for Bendigo’s inaugural Premier Saturday Meeting on 17 March 2012.
The meeting will feature nine races and be headlined by the Yalumba Golden Mile (1600m) with in prize money of $125,000.
The biggest prize pool will be on offer in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Guineas (1400m) for three-year-olds with the race carrying a stake of $90,000 plus $80,000 in bonuses. Premier thoroughbred sales company Inglis is offering a $50,000 bonus if the Guineas winner is a graduate of their sales, whilst the first three placegetters will share in $30,000 worth of Super VOBIS bonuses if qualified for Victoria’s lucrative breeding and racing incentive scheme.
Other features on Yalumba Golden Mile Raceday, which will replace the Melbourne metropolitan meeting, include the $90,000 Catanachs Jewellers Gold Bracelet (1400m) for fillies and mares and the $75,000 Centrebet Bendigo Gold 0-82 Stayers Final (2400m) for which heats will be held across the state.
The program has been developed with an eye to the future which has been guaranteed a place within the Melbourne Festival of Racing for at least the next three years.
The Golden Mile Raceday will be the centrepiece of a weekend showcasing the many attractions of the City of Greater Bendigo.

1. Yalumba Golden Mile (1600m, Open) - $125,000
2. Bendigo Bank Bendigo Guineas (1400m, 3YO) - $90,000 + $50,000 Inglis bonus + $30,000 Super VOBIS bonus
3. Catanachs Jewellers Gold Bracelet (1400m, F&M) - $90,000
4. Centrebet Gold Stayers Final (2400m, 0-82) - $75,000
5. Bendigo Golden Nursery (1100m, 2YO) - $50,000 + $30,000 Super VOBIS bonus
6. 0-72 Handicap (1100m, 3YO) - $50,000 + $30,000 Super VOBIS bonus
7. 0-72 Handicap (1600m) - $50,000
8. 0-78 Handicap (1100m) - $50,000
